New Year Update – January 2010

Change is something that affects us all and we like to think that here at CIWEC we embrace the opportunities that change presents and see the positive effects this can have on our development and the services we offer to our patients.

Staff updates:

During 2009 there were some changes in the medical and dental staff at the clinic.  This is always a difficult time which affects patients and staff who, over the years, have developed positive relationships with their doctor, dentist, colleagues.  The clinic took advantage of these changes to bring in two new doctors with skills and experience that will further enhance the existing team.  They are Dr Robin Ramsay, a GP from Scotland with a special interest in Tropical Medicine and Dr Rashila Pradhan, who worked at Patan Hospital in the Department of General Practice and Emergency Medicine.  To complete the team Dr Mary Miller, a US trained Dental Surgeon commenced work in the Dental clinic in September.

Other changes:

Other changes that have taken place during 2009 include the purchase of a new fully equipped ambulance which is available for airport pickup/drop off and hospital transfers and is available for booking by telephoning the clinic.

The Psychiatric/Psychology department has been expanded with the recruitment of 2 new consultants, Dr Em Perera a British trained Clinical Psychologist with 11 years experience working in child & family, learning disabilities, adult and older adult specialties and Jocelyn White is an American trained Psychologist with experience in marital conflict, stress, sexual harassment, anger management and depression.  Further information on all our counsellors and appointment information can be obtained by contacting the clinic reception.

During 2009 the clinic purchased a new, fully equipped ambulance.  The ambulance can be booked by contacting the clinic reception on 4424111 and is available for airport pickup and drop off and hospital transfers.

Wireless internet is now available in the waiting area for patients and visiting clients.

Clinic Development:

As we move into a new year we are not content to stand still.  We are currently planning to develop the clinic and our services further to meet the growing needs of the local residents and the tourists who use our facilities.  Our plans include a major extension tot he premises which will provide additional space for a dedicated Pediatric and Psychology unit, increase the number of inpatient beds, provide a new operating theatre, additional examination rooms, an eye clinic, Intensive care unit and physiotherapy unit to name but a few.

During the construction phase there may be some disruption for patients, however given the longer term benefits we hope that you will be understanding and we will try to ensure that the ongoing work does not affect your visit to the clinic too much.

Influenza (Flu) Vaccine:

We have stocks of the annual influenza vaccine available for patients.  If you are at risk of contracting the flu please be sure to come into the clinic to get immunized.  There is no need to make an appointment you can just call in at the clinic between 9 – 11:30 am or 1 – 4:30 pm any day Monday to Sunday and see the nurse on duty.

Feedback:

Your opinions are important to us and we appreciate your comments and suggestions on how we can further improve our services to meet your needs.  Please let us know your thoughts.  You can contact us by email, phone or just call in at the clinic and speak to the staff.  We also have a suggestion box in the waiting area.
