Doctors at CIWEC

Dr. Lohani did her medical graduation from Chennai University and post-graduation in Radiodiagnosis and Imaging from PGIMER, Chandigarh, India in 1998. She is Professor in the Department of Radiology and Imaging at Institute of Medicine, TUTH. She has been associated with the Clinic since 2007.

Dr. Amatya completed her undergraduate medical education from Tribhuvan University, Nepal in 2011 and received the Masters in General Practice degree from the prestigious Tribhuvan University Institute of Medicine (TUTH), Kathmandu, Nepal in 2016. Her past affiliations include Paropakar Maternity and Women’s Hospital and Patan Hospital. She is certified in Travel Health (CTH®) from the International Society of Travel Medicine and has the clinical research title Fellow of the Journal of Nepal Medical Association (FJNMA). She is the Kathmandu site co-director for GeoSentinel, the emerging infectious diseases network of the CDC, and the ISTM. She joined CIWEC in 2016.

Dr. Shlim was the Medical Director of the CIWEC from 1983-1998. He currently lives in Kelly, Wyoming where he serves as Medical Director of Jackson Travel and Tropical Medicine Center. He is the author of the Health Chapter in Lonely Planet’s “Trekking in the Nepal Himalayas” and serves as an advisor to the Hospital. He is the Past President of the International Society of Travel Medicine (ISTM).

Dr. Sangita Puree (Dhungana) completed her undergraduate medical education from the Universal College of Medical Sciences, Bhairahawa and Masters in the Pediatrics from the Institute of Medicine (IOM), Maharajgunj in 2010. After completing her MD, she worked in Patan Academy of Health sciences for 3 years and Nepal Medical College for 7 years. She had been working as a full time Pediatrician in Helping Hands Community Hospital for two and half years.

Dr. Puree (Dhungana) has vast experience in handling pediatric patients both as outpatients as well as inpatients. She is also well experienced in taking care of neonates and critically ill pediatric patients. She is particularly interested in neurodevelopment and infectious diseases in pediatrics. She is a full time Pediatrician at CIWEC from September 2023.

Dr. Sharma trained as an obstetrician and gynecologist in India, UK and Nepal. After extensive practice experience in the specialty, she moved on to a career in management and governance as the Director of Maternity Hospital in Kathmandu and Secretary, Ministry of health and population, Nepal. She is a fellow of the Royal College of Obstetrician and Gynecologists UK, and has served as the Chief of Health and Nutrition program in UNICEF Tanzania for 5 years. She joined CIWEC Hospital in 2018 as the Director of surgical services primarily responsible for enhancing surgical care at the hospital.

Dr. Bhandari completed undergraduate education from Nepal Medical College and Masters in Internal Medicine from B. P. Koirala Institute of Health Sciences (BPKIHS), Dharan. He worked for 6 months at Kathmandu Medical College Hospital in the ICU department and taught in a Medical University in China before joining CIWEC in September 2014.

Dr. Gurung completed her undergraduate medical degree from Budapest, Hungary and graduate education from Institute of Medicine (IOM). She is the fellow of The College of Physicians and Surgeons of Pakistan (FCPS). She is professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at TUTH and is a consultant in this specialty at CIWEC Hospital. She has extensive experience in her specialty spanning over 2 decades.

Dr. Manoj Yadav is specialized with BSPT, MSPT, International course in Acupuncture and TCM-Shanghai, China & Diploma in FIFA football medicine and a registered Physiotherapist with more than 14 years clinical experience and is a highly skilled physiotherapist and manual Therapist (Osteopathy and Chiropractic).

He holds the award of the United Nation (UN) Medical Certificate of Excellence for his professional popularity and phenomenal performance provided to United Nation (UN) staff being the UN consultant Physiotherapist for more than a year.

Dr. Sharma graduated from Emilio Aguinaldo College of Dentistry, Manila, Phillippines in 2001, where the American education system is followed. He has spent time in Japan training in oral and Maxillofacial prosthetics and implant dentistry and obtained a Diploma in Orthodontics from the International Association of Orthodontics, Milwaukee, USA. He has been associated with the Clinic since 2009 taking care of routine and emergency dental needs of expatriates and tourists.

Dr. Pandey attended medical school in New Delhi, India, and was residency trained in Internal Medicine in Boston, Massachusetts. She became Board Certified in that specialty in 1984 and practiced for 10 years in the Boston area. She joined the clinic in 1993 and became the Medical Director in 1998. She is the past president of the International Society of Travel Medicine ISTM) and is site director for the GeoSentinel project, an international cooperative project to monitor emerging diseases through research of travel related illnesses. She has worked one season as a Himalayan Rescue Association (HRA) volunteer doctor in the Everest Region and currently serves on the medical board of the HRA.

Physiotherapist Neupane completed both his undergraduate and graduate education from Bangalore, India. He worked as a physiotherapist at Medicare National Hospital and Medical Centre for 2 years and later joined Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital. He is involved with the National Cricket Team of Nepal as their official physiotherapist. He is also a subject committee member for physiotherapy at the Nepal Health Professional Council.

Dr.Pradhan graduated from the University of Leipzig, Germany and received the Diploma in Community Health and Tropical Medicine from Berlin. She completed Masters in General Practice at the Institute of Medicine, TUTH, Kathmandu in 2005. She worked as a Senior Registrar in the Department of General Practice and Emergency Medicine at Patan Hospital for 4 years before joining CIWEC in 2009. She is certified in Travel Health (CTH) from the International Society of Travel Medicine and is fluent in German.

Dr Bashyal obtained his undergraduate medical education from Moscow in 2001 and specialized in Emergency and General Practice from the prestigious Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital (TUTH) in 2008. He worked for 4 years as the chief of Emergency and General Practice Department at Kathmandu Model Hospital before joining CIWEC in 2012. He is an instructor of primary trauma care management and is fluent in Russian and English.

Dr. Manandhar (Maharjan) completed her undergraduate medical education from Manipal College of Medical Sciences, Pokhara, Nepal in 2001 and received Masters in General Practice from Institute of Medicine, Tribhuwan University. She has worked in Kathmandu Model Hospital, Midat Hospital Pvt. Ltd. and KIST Medical College in the past.
She is an instructor of Primary Trauma Care, Palliative Care, BLS and ACLS.

Dr. Suvash completed his undergraduate medical studies as well as Masters in General
Practice and Emergency Medicine from the prestigious Tribhuwan
University, Institute of Medicne (TUTH) in 2017. He holds a Diploma in
Mountain Medicine approved by UIAA/IKAR/ISMM. He has special interest in
altitude, wilderness and travel medicine. He joined CIWEC in 2017.
